The Laura M. Fleming Scholarship Fund has been established by Founders Federal Credit Union in memory of its former President and CEO. The purpose of the Scholarship Fund is to provide undergraduate scholarships to the children of Founders Federal Credit Union members to attend an accredited college, vocational or technical school of their choice. It will provide funding to gifted future leaders who possess determination and enthusiasm, in the spirit of Founders’ former leader.
Minimum Eligibility
Laura M. Fleming Scholarship candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Children of Founders Federal Credit Union members shall be defined to include natural born or legally adopted children and stepchildren and wards of employees. In the case of stepchildren and wards, the applicant must live in the home with the eligible member.
- The parents or legally appointed guardians of applicants must be Founders Federal Credit Union members in good standing for a minimum of two years (24 months) prior to the application deadline.
- Applicants must have a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.00 Scale.)
Application Procedure
To be considered for a Scholarship, applicants must submit a completed application, no later than March 1, 2008.
Selection Criteria
The scholarship committee will consider the following when selecting scholarship recipients:
- Financial need as determined by the costs of college attendance compared with the applicant’s household income and other financial factors.
- Record of good citizenship, as evidenced by school and community involvement beyond required school activities and customary faith-based (church) involvement.
- Prior academic achievement, including cumulative grade point average.
- Preference is given to applicants who demonstrate a positive influence in their school and community and exemplify sound morals and character.
Finalists may be requested to attend a personal interview with the Scholarship Committee.
